Process

The process of making our custom 1911 pistols is no secret. We take the time to hand finish each individual part as if each pistol were our own. Our parts are machined to maximum dimensions then hand fit for minimal tolerances while providing flawless functioning.

We use only the best quality bar stock and hardened steel to craft our components (No MIM or cast steel stock is incorporated in any part of our pistols). We polish out all tool marks by hand and after assembly, each pistol is extensively test-fired before we apply your choice of finish. After the pistol is assembled and the finish is applied, the gun is then test-fired a second time, the pistol is sighted-in and a three-shot group is fired at 15 yards.

There are no assembly lines at Volkmann Custom. All pistols are built one at a time to the customer's specifications. Our pistols are hand crafted with a degree of precision unmatched by any other company in the industry.
